Built out of two loves, native flowers and handstitched embroidery, Barbara, a far South Coast resident has published her first book, and hopes to inspire more people to capture the flora of the country's landscape through cotton and stitches.
This beautiful book includes charts to stitch more than 30 different types of Australian native plants including Gums, Wattles, Bottlebrushes and Banksias.
About the Author
Barbara Jones (nee Mentiplay) grew up in a family where her father grew vegetables and her mother grew flowers. She met and married David and together their love of Australian plans and creating interesting gardens has been a journey of a lifetime.
Barbara's first introduction to embroidery was through doily making and Cross Stitch, a skill which she has perfected over many years of passionate dedication. Barbara's study in Embroidery techniques includes successfully completing a correspondence course with Opus School of Textile Arts in England. Barbara's love of embroidery, native plants and patterns in nature has inspired her to use her own design skills to produce a range of embroidered articles with an emphasis on Australian native plants.
