Australian Wildflower Embroidery Kits
Heritage Australian wildflower embroidery doily kits
There is a quiet elegance to traditional hand embroidery — a reminder of a more restrained era, when beautiful household linens were carefully stitched, treasured and passed down through generations.
These Australian Wildflower Embroidery Kits feature original designs by Australian artist Daphne “Mackie” Wearne (1896–1985). Born in Manilla, New South Wales, and later based in Sydney, Wearne was admired for her delicate oil paintings and watercolours of Australian wildflowers.
The floral designs were originally submitted for decoration on fine china plates. As Wearne was also an accomplished needleworker, their adaptation for embroidery on traced cotton linen is a fitting continuation of her artistic legacy.
Each design is worked on a round, lace-edged doily to create a graceful handmade piece with quiet dignity, character and enduring appeal. Suitable for intermediate embroiderers.
Kit includes:
- Hemmed cotton doily with delicate lace edging
- Printed embroidery outlines
- Stranded cotton threads
