Avlea Mediterranean Folk Embroidery

Krista West is the founder and designer of Avlea. The word "avlea" in Greek means "courtyard" and the courtyard was the place where embroideries were worked by women as they took a break from their daily labors, finding refreshment in creating heirlooms for future generations.
Krista for over 20 years as an ecclesiastical tailor for Greek Orthodox Churches, and wanted to bring some of the wonderful beauty of the Eastern Mediterranean textile tradition into the modern home.
