Hands Across the Sea Samplers are pleased to present to you “Sally Stansfield 1841” a very sweet school girl sampler. The moment Nicola saw this delightful sampler she knew that Sally, a friend who shares her passion for school girl samplers, would be thrilled to see her namesake reproduced.

Sally is an ideal companion piece for the very popular Mary Clayton.

In researching family history records we found three possible Sally Stansfields: Sally daughter of William and Grace who was christened on December 1st, 1833 at Cross Stone, Stansfield, Yorkshire; Sally daughter of George, a cotton twister, and Grace born in Stansfield in 1834; and Sally daughter of Henry, a weaver, and his wife Nancy Pickles born on June 26th 1834 in the small hamlet of Colden Water and baptised at Mount Zion General Baptist Chapel in Hepstonstall Slack, Yorkshire.

We grateful thanks to Jacqueline Morris who stitch the model of Sally.
