About the Black Sickle-billed Bird of Paradise

Although little is known about this exotic bird, it is not particularly uncommon in the forests of the Western and Central Highlands of Papua New Guinea.

It has a distinctive loud, liquid, whip-like call and is known to eat fruit.

Nothing is known of its nest and eggs.

Other designs in this series: Count Raggi's Bird of Paradise (red) and Greater Bird of Paradise (yellow).
