About the Lion

The Lion has mistakenly been called the 'King of the Jungle'. This is not at all true, due to the fact that the lion lives, not in the jungle, but on the plains of Africa.

The male Lion is renowned for its beautiful mane. The adult male is a rather lazy animal, spending most of its time sleeping. Although the lioness does most of the hunting, often working in packs, it is the male that always eats first, the lionesses come next and the cubs last.

The lion cub, unlike our domestic kitten, can see from birth.

Others in this series include the Jaguar, Snow Leopard, Tiger, White Tiger and Panther.
